Golden Hour Engagement Session at Cape May Lighthouse

There’s something magical about golden hour along the Jersey Shore, and Cape May Lighthouse offers one of the most beautiful settings for an engagement session. As the sun begins to set, the light softens and wraps the landscape in warm tones, creating the perfect atmosphere for capturing genuine moments between couples.

For this session, we met just before sunset to take advantage of that soft coastal light. The lighthouse stood tall in the background while the surrounding dunes and open fields gave us a variety of natural textures and scenery to work with. The breeze coming off the ocean added a relaxed, effortless feel that made the entire experience feel natural and fun.

Engagement sessions are less about posing and more about connection. Walking along the paths, laughing together, and simply enjoying the moment often leads to the most authentic photographs. Golden hour helps create that mood naturally, giving images a romantic glow that feels timeless.

One of the best parts about photographing at Cape May is how the scenery changes as the sun drops lower in the sky. The sky shifts from warm gold to soft pastel colors, creating a beautiful backdrop that feels both intimate and cinematic. For this session we stayed until blue hour to capture some variety.

Engagement sessions like this are not only a chance to capture beautiful photographs but also an opportunity for couples to slow down, spend time together, and celebrate this exciting chapter of their lives.

If you’re planning an engagement session near Cape May, golden hour at Cape May Lighthouse is truly one of the most stunning locations along the coast. The combination of historic architecture, coastal landscape, and soft evening light makes it a perfect place to begin telling your love story.
